KPO 2008 Grant Program

The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra is proud to offer two nonrenewable $500 grants to two members of the Kenai Peninsula Borough High School Graduating Class of 2008. Candidates must be planning on attending an accredited 2 or 4 year College or University. They must be planning to study music in some form in college. Applicants are required to submit the following information:

  • Application - application form will be available in January 2008
  • Copy of High School Transcript
  • 3 Letters of Reference
  • Essay (2 pages double-spaced using one of the following prompts):
    1. What does music mean to you now and what role will it play in your life?
    2. What is the value of a music scholarship and how will it help you obtain your ultimate collegiate goal? Please include a description of your collegiate and career goals as you perceive them.
  • Copy of SAT/ACT Scores
  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria:
    • Essay (30%)
    • GPA/ SAT/ACT Scores (25%)
    • Extra curricular Activities (25%)
    • 3 Letters of reference (20%).
