KPO Presents the Summer Music Festival for 2008 - July 28 through August 10
Well, it's Summer Music Festival time again - a two week long celebration of Classical music with great performers from around the country.
And this year we have another very exciting lineup of events.
-
The celebration starts out on July 28th with free Luncheon Concerts every weekday at noon at various locations around Homer and the Kenai/Soldotna area.
-
On Friday, August 1st, at 7:30pm there will be a Chamber Concert at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna featuring the Madison String Quartet and Friends
-
Come join us at 6:00pm on Sunday, August 3rd, as the Rainbow Connection departs the Homer dock for a trip across the bay to Tutka Bay Lodge for Champagne, Chocolate and Chopin à la Tutka, a magical evening of champagne, scrumptious hors d'oevres and glorious chamber music provided by the Madison String Quartet in an open air setting. You don't want to miss this!
-
The Gala Concert will take place at the Renée C. Henderson Auditorium in Kenai on Friday, August 8 at 7:30pm, and at the Mariner Theatre in Homer on Saturday, the 9th, also at 7:30 PM. The program will feature guest conductor Linn Weeda and French hornist Anthony Cecere
The program includes:
Strauss: Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major featuring Anthony Cecere
Susato: Renaissance Dances
Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet Overture and Fantasy
Elgar: Wand of Youth
Munger: Sinfonietta
Two full weeks of beautiful, uplifting music in what has to be one of the most beautiful settings in the world. Come join us!
